Harbour Square

The Harbour square is located adjacent to the Luderitz harbour, providing residents and visitors alike unparralelled access to the sea. This includes the harbour for larger vessels as well as the smaller jetty where tourist boats anchor, eagerly awaiting their next journey into the sea.

Unique Cuisine

The harbour square offers a variety of eateries with cuisine ranging from the sublime bounty of sea to simple “fish-n-chips-on-the-square” whilst overlooking the harbour.

A Unique Eventing Experience

The boardwalk and jetty provide ideal spaces for hosting exceptionally creative events against the backdrop of a sea-facing venue. This has been the venue for the flagship Annual Crayfish festival.

Old Power Station Complex

The Old Power Station Complex is where history meets the world. The building has in recent years been developed into a new state-of-the-art facility that is driving innovation and capacity for the town.

It boasts a variety of facilities:

Seafront Meeting:

Our auditorium is a unique sea-facing 350-seater facility which has and can cater for a diverse range of engagements from business to theatre. It has hosted some of Namibia’s leading personalities in the arenas of sport, business, music and politics.

Our conferencing facilities combine the auditorium as well as:

  • A Multi-purpose Hall measuring some 511 square metres for multi-functional use
  • The Cornelius Fredericks Conference room of some 80 square metres which can be configured to host a 100 people
  • The Susan Harris Conference which can hosts 80 people
  • An outside seating area of some 40 square metres

The Luderitz Waterfront Development Company can host a variety of corporate, educational, cultural and private events, setting Luderitz on the course to becoming a significant conference destination. The facilities can be used individually or in combination depending on the client’s requirements and request.

Seafront Education

The Namibia University of Science and Technology (NUST) satellite campus will also be hosted within the complex, responding to the decentralization of higher education, whilst ensuring local access to these facilities.

The National Maritime Museum

The National Maritime Museum occupies some 2,500 square metres across three floors. It aims to provide a unique educational experience and historical perspective in terms of Namibia’s fishing industry, maritime trading and the emerging blue economy. The museum hosts an excellent collection of maritime memorabilia including:

  • Shipping models
  • Underwater archaeology
  • Sea-related arts & crafts
  • A comprehensive maritime library
  • An outstanding collection of sea-shells from across the oceans

The Fitness Centre

Our sea-facing gym hosts some of the latest state-of-the-art equipment across a 74 square metre floorspace with an additional 40 square metre space allocated as an outside gym area in the fresh open sea air. The Multi-purpose hall can also be used for additional sporting activities.

Seafront Hospitality

A Seaview Restaurant is being leased to a professional operator who has to meet the stringent high standards set to ensure that it provides a superior service offering to both locals and visitors alike.

A professional Serving Kitchen is made available to qualifying local caterers to service both the LWDC requirements and local outside event management needs.

Seafront Open Public Spaces

The public spaces around the Old Power Station Complex in excess of 7,000 square metres are set to become  the town’s new public square , where locals, visitors, investors all mingle and socialize. These are ideal spaces for hosting music festivals and other activities of significance.

Luderitz is a small town with big dreams and huge potential for investment on the southwestern coast of Namibia.
